Yesterday the nation's debate took place and President Rajoy surprised with an announcement: the baby check in Spain would be reactivated. Obviously it was one of the news that caused the most uproar within families, since it is our turn directly in our economy (it is clearly much more palpable than any tax cut), but nonetheless by deepening the conditions we have been surprised.
The first thing is that this is not a check as such but a relief that is included in the tax reform and that will be granted to those who meet the following conditions:
- That it is a single parent family with two children.
- The father (or mother, as the case may be), must have a maximum part-time job of 4 hours per day.
This deduction is already being applied to large families or with ascendants or descendants who have a disability and this point will not undergo any modification (we recently told you the conditions and how to request it).
This help it would add to the 100 euros that receive working mothers of children under 3 years of age, taking into account that to receive it, they must have contributed to Social Security 15 days of each month (full-time) or 50% of the workday (part-time).
Another measure that has been announced is the bonus for freelancers to hire an employee in case they should be dedicated to the care of their children under 6 years or relatives with a disability.
Yet the form or date has not been specified in which this law will come into force, so we will remain attentive to the moment it is applied and in case there is any modification to what was announced yesterday.
I have sincerely run out of words... I do not know if they have not contemplated that there are families that are not single parents or who are just going to have their first child and are also going through a difficult situation. I understand that the country is going through a difficult time and that the aid cannot be extended to everyone, but I think this measure is so restrictive that it is similar to applying a warm cloth to someone who has 40 degrees of fever.
