Video game for the treatment of children with lazy eye

Have you seen that consoles are not so bad for children? We have already seen that the Wii helps keep them fit while Brain Trainning helps to speed up your mind.

Now, we learn a new game developed by Playstation and Eye Toy to train children with vision problems, specifically for those who suffer from amblyopia, also called "lazy eye".

It is one of the most frequent visual disturbances in children that is characterized by the partial loss of vision of an eye for not having used it during childhood, and that can be completely corrected with proper treatment before the child turns seven.

To prevent this, Sony Computer Entertainment España and the Vision IOC Foundation collaborate in a study aimed at helping children with visual problems in which the PSP (PlayStation®Portable) and the EyeToyTM USB camera will be used for children between 4 and 16 years old to practice exercises as therapy for 20 minutes a day to improve your visual abilities.

The lazy eye is usually treated by placing a healthy eye patch on the child so that the lazy "works" more, but the PSP could be a much less traumatic and more fun substitute for children who also feel stimulated and get involved in their own Recovery.

It is undoubtedly a very interesting initiative. At least, parents are happy to know that video games are not as bad as they seem and that they are well used to benefit our children.
