Bringing science closer to the little ones with a couple of simple experiments

One of the most incredible things that paternity gives you is to see the astonished face of your children in some situations. Seeing that eyes wide open and that smile on your face makes you reread the world around you again. I am not ashamed to admit that thanks to my children I have become interested in the environment that surrounds me and now I see it again differently.

With simple experiments that we can do without fear at home we can discover how universal laws work, always leaving aside the theory and trying to give them simple explanations of why things happen. Here we bring you some simple experiments to bring science closer to the little ones.

The experimental website belonging to the Royal Institution has a wide range of experiments, documents and images to help parents introduce science to our children in a safe and above all fun way. The problem, which is in English, but since many things are very basic, the language is not important.

Here are some examples:

Air-powered race cars

With a straw (you can use different sizes, but it will give less problems the fat and more resistant), balloons, some bottle caps of milk and soft drinks, some sticks for morunos skewers and a cardboard or platform where you can hold everything.

The operation is simple. We make a vehicle with covers, cardboard and chopsticks. When we have it we put the big straw inside the balloon and seal the joint with adhesive tape and attach everything to the platform. Now we just have to let go of inflating the balloon and letting it go so that our car comes out scratching the wheel. Get off we go.

Take sounds from the glasses

This trick always reminds me of weddings, - don't ask me why - I guess the one who has done the least or the least. It consists of passing the wet finger along the edge of a glass or thin glass and creating different sounds according to the shape, content or thickness of the glass. Do not forget to hold the glasses well, it will not be that the sound we get is that of broken glass.

Mixing water and oil

Who has not done this experiment at school, mix two liquids of different densities and see how they do not mix. Well, with a little oil, water and coloring we can do real wonders in the eyes of our children.

Lava lamp:

The ocean in a bottle

Easy and very fun, do not stop doing it at home, surely you will have a good time.
