Six books for children by Stephen Hawking: physics and astronomy explained to the little ones by a large

Stephen Hawking, the British astrophysicist who, from his wheelchair, managed to conquer the stars and bring them closer to the rest of mankind, died this morning at 76.

In addition to all his theories and contributions to science, it is likely that many do not know that with his daughter Lucy wrote six books dedicated to children, between 9 and 11 years old, with the aim of introducing them to the world of astronomy and physics in a very fun way. All of them with the same protagonist, George.

The secret key of the universe

This first book was published in 2007 and it introduces the smallest in the universe of the cosmos through a journey through planets, stars, satellites and black holes. Learning will come thanks to the great adventures that our protagonist will live.

Published two years later, it is a book that delves into the concepts already discussed in the previous issue. Here George will travel with his friend Annie to Mars.

George and the Big Bang

In 2011, this new adventure is published where George must save the world from a second Big Bang by traveling through cosmic portals, while its authors take the opportunity to explain to the little ones the Big Bang theory and the origin of the universe. Currently it can only be found in English.

The origin of the universe

In 2012 we found this new story where the greatest scientific experiment in history takes place. Eric, Annie's father, is working at the European Center for Nuclear Research in Switzerland where the large particle collider is located capable of exploring the first moments of the universe: the Big Bang. Everything is ready and nothing can go wrong but George and Annie have a plan to sabotage it. Will they get it?

This story is available since 2014, at the moment only in English, where the protagonists must find out what is happening in the world where a series of situations take place for which they have no explanation. As for example that the food is free, the airplanes do not want to fly, the machines go crazy ... will they discover what happens?

The last book of the saga was published in 2016 and tells a new adventure of George and his best friend, who will enter a training program for astronauts who will travel to Mars in the future.

The protagonists, in addition to learning all the possible data of the red planet must solve the mystery of secret space missions that could endanger our universe. Currently it can only be found in English.
