School of parents to avoid the syndrome of the emperor child

There is a special school at the Hospital de los Morales (Córdoba) to educate parents who have a child who has repeatedly demonstrated inappropriate behavior. Like the Supernanny television program, the purpose is the re-education of the parents to avoid the child's behavior.

Each year, a total of fifty families attend the Parent School that the Reina Sofía Child and Youth Mental Health Unit launched to treat problems such as the emperor child syndrome.

Through several weekly sessions, parents discuss and discuss issues that primarily affect their children's behavior, while children are assisted by psychologists or psychiatrists of the Mental Health Unit. The idea is to show parents the right way to eliminate problems and reach a proper emotional relationship with their children by teaching how they should behave preventing the child from gaining ground. Parents must earn the child's respect and this is certainly a task, sometimes arduous.

One of the most frequent problems of this center, according to the words of one of the doctors who exercise there, is the problem that some parents present in the absolute denial of being part of the parents' school. They leave the child for doctors to treat him and believe that they are not part of the problem, so they do not attend such classes. Precisely this behavior shows the need to learn to be parents.
