Each child costs the Spanish 5,500 euros a year, at least

These are the data disclosed by the Family Policy Institute that has calculated a minimum of 5,546 euros per year of expenses for each child up to 18 years.

If we talk about figures, it is an average of 455 euros per month and almost one hundred thousand euros of expenses, at least, until they reach the age of majority.

The period in which the greatest expense occurs is between 0 and 3 years, about 7384 euros per year.

The aid is ridiculous, the lowest in Europe, compared to the cost of maintaining a child, they barely cover 5% of the expenditure and only 10% of families access them because the policy is very restrictive to obtain subsidies.

If we add to this the shortage of places in schools and kindergartens, how do they expect us to have more children?

The solution, according to the IPF, would be to extend and generalize the aid. That is, the benefits of 100 euros per child that now applies to working mothers with children under three years of age extend to all families with children under 18 years.

It also proposes to universalize the benefit for dependent children by removing the income limit established to be able to access it.

Between the two things, it would be possible to cover 27.5% of the costs of a child.

For some, having children is priceless, but the truth is that some more help would not hurt.

Without a doubt it is a very important factor that many families consider when having children or considering enlarging the family.
