Without epidural if you stop at night or on the weekend

In Babies and more we always defend the right to have a birth as each woman chooses, with the best conditions for both the mother and the baby.

Giving birth with or without epidural is a very personal choice, a decision that others cannot make for you. A birth should be a respected process according to the needs and wishes of the mother, which includes epidural analgesia if the woman requires it.

Unfortunately, this option is not available in all centers for all parturients. Doctors and nurses of the Valencian Community denounce a great flaw. After 10 p.m. and on weekends the application of epidural anesthesia cannot be guaranteed in hospitals due to lack of anesthetists.

A respected birth is one in which the mother's wishes are satisfied as long as it does not pose a risk to the baby. Although there are women who prefer to give birth avoiding the epidural because it has its disadvantages, there are others who assume their decision and require it at the time of giving birth for fear of suffering pain.

What is inexplicable is that those women who request it are not applied because their delivery takes place at dawn and there is no anesthetist on duty.

3 years ago the Consell promised that all women could give birth in the public network with epidural at any time and day if they wanted to, but they still denounce the lack of 40 anesthetists to guarantee it.

Hopefully the problem will be solved and that all women can give birth according to their wishes. Meanwhile, we suggest some alternative treatments to relieve pain in childbirth.
