Traveling with babies: Destinations in Spain

The good weather and the proximity of the holidays have to call us to investigate a little about those holiday destinations in Spain that are more suitable for traveling with our baby.

Taking into account the advice we have been giving and those that will come soon, we will have to define what kind of vacation we plan with our family. We can choose to find the encounter with the wider family, visiting the town or the house of grandparents or uncles. Or we can also choose to live our first vacation alone with our own nuclear family.

Spain has a huge range of tourist destinations of all kinds to satisfy our search. Let's see some of them.

If we look for beach

One of the most requested and abundant options in the Spanish territory is, without doubt, the beach. The extensive coastline has all kinds of corners where we stretch on the sand. There is no “a perfect beach for children”, since the little ones fully enjoy wherever we take them. However, I would advise some beaches among the many possible.

Beaches of Huelva
The coast of the province of Huelva is especially suitable and is perfectly equipped to serve families with young children. Beaches like those of Islantilla or Punta Umbría They are spacious, soft sand and support services.

Behind them they have urban centers just a step away so we can comfortably stay and go down to the beach at the times suitable for our little baby. Shortly after walking, we will also have more “virgin” options such as the nearby and paradisiacal beach of Matalascañas.

Maresme Beaches
At the foot of the Catalan Coastal Mountain Range, an extensive strip of sand offers excellent beaches in the Maresme area, north of Barcelona. An area with direct access from hotels, tourist apartments or summer residences and with all the services that are required for comfort and safety of our family. Beaches with a long tourist tradition like those of Calella, Masnou or Malgrat del Mar. A proven alternative to a step away from Barcelona, for those who do not want to travel too much.

If we look inside

Inland tourism in Spain is one of the variants that have grown the most in recent times. A cozy rural house or a small hotel in the mountains will give us a peaceful and natural environment to live the holidays with our baby.

Our advice would be to approach the Sierra de Gredos, for example. About 60 kilometers from Avila and about 150 from Madrid, a wide natural reserve awaits us to enjoy mountains, lagoons, rivers and charming villages where you can disconnect from everyday life.

To the south, the Sierra de las Nieves encompasses a region that is not widely spread but has great potential. It is located a few kilometers from the Costa del Sol so we can perfectly combine rural accommodation in towns such as Ojen (15 km from Marbella), Casarabonela or Tolox, with the life, services and beach of the Andalusian Mediterranean.

If we are looking for urban vacations

Summer is a good opportunity to take advantage of all the urban infrastructure that exists in the great Spanish cities, so many choose to visit them. Museums, historical heritage, aquariums ... an extensive list of cultural offer that in many cases we can enjoy with the little ones too.

The city of Valencia is an example of this. With accommodation and services designed also for family and attractions that go beyond the beach. A walk through the City of Arts and Sciences, for example, will give unforgettable moments to young and old, as well as a visit to the Bioparc will bring us to the best friends of children: animals.

Recall, in addition, that Spain has exceptional historical cities and cultural sites that are registered as World Heritage by UNESCO.

Whatever the option we are looking for for our next vacation with our little one, let's think that the whole family deserves a rest and that children can adapt to almost all travel conditions, as long as we look after their health, comfort and safety.

Let's not relegate our travel plans, let's adapt them to the reality of traveling with a baby, but let's enjoy all the tourist options that Spain (or the world) offers us knowing that we are thus forming a small traveler for the future.
