Fun crafts: a wool octopus

Here you have an idea to make a very fun craft with the kids in the house: a wool octopus. The four and five year olds will have a great time doing it and will need some help from you.

You need a ball of wool of the color you like best, scissors, glue, a ball, and some tape for the legs. The eyes can be made as we like, with moving eyes, buttons or felt circles.

The photo that illustrates the post is that of the octopus that my son has made although, as he is a little older, he has been able to do it alone. Here you can see the different steps that illustrate the explanation on how to do it.

The wool is cut into pieces of equal length. Then you have to join all the strands and roll them over themselves, tying the whole in half with a strong thread so that it will not come loose. Then you have to cut the strands that are folded and open the wool by putting it around the ball that will be the head.

Then, tied tightly under the ball, braids are made that will represent the legs. To finish each braid is tied at the bottom with another loop so that they remain made.

You will tell me how they come out. Our wool octopus It already has a name and a place of honor hooked on the headboard of the bed.
