"Childhood. Photographs by Isabel Muñoz", portraits of the world in the IVAM

Today I am talking about a sample that I could see, in part, on the internet and that I loved. Is about the exhibition "Children. Photographs by Isabel Muñoz", which exposes portraits of children from all over the world in the IVAM of Valencia.

The photographer Isabel Muñoz, Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts 2009, brings the reality and dreams of the children of the world to the Institut Valencià d'Art Modern (IVAM) until June 6, through 68 portraits made in 20 countries in Europe, Africa, Asia and America.

What is intended with this sample is to offer a global overview of the situation of children in relation to their fundamental rights. The exhibition is organized by UNICEF in collaboration with the Spanish Agency for Development Cooperation (Aecid), as an idea for the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

In this way, it is intended to raise awareness, through more than 60 images, audiovisuals and texts, of the realities and rights of children throughout the world.

Photographer Isabel Muñoz is one of the most prominent figures in photography today, she received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts 2009, and in this exhibition she turns her portrayed characters, children, into universal icons that represent a stage of our life and the future, which we must protect, of Humanity.

A pity not to have known before this sample of exciting photographs, which has been previously exhibited in the CaixaForum centers of Barcelona and Madrid:

"Childhood" is a portrait of diversity and equality. Of the diversity of the children, of the girls and of the adolescents that populate our world and of the equality of the rights that they must have regardless of their situation or their origin.

I recommend you take a look at the exhibition "Children. Photographs by Isabel Muñoz", the portraits of children in the world, in those who come alive and mingle with the public, establishing links with the spectators, involving them with their stories and explaining the rights that should protect them.
