Controversy in the USA for a book that encourages parents to mistreat their children

When it seemed that everything was already seen in reference to the literature dedicated to the raising of children, I learned that there is a book in the US, written by an evangelist, who recommends that parents physically punish their children, severely.

The book was published in 1994 and its author is called Michael pearl. Since its publication, almost a million copies have been sold of the book and since its publication the controversy has been growing because the violence that promulgates is such that deaths have already lamented.

The title of the book is "To train up a child" ("To train a child") and it is not that the lord revere speaks of physical punishment as a method of education in Chapter 14, there among everything else he comments, is that already in the first chapter enters sack, because said first chapter is entitled "Hit your son."

Apparently, this chapter explains with hair and signs how to educate children using violence, to the point of advising how to carry out punishment.

For example, if a child is under one year old, "It is enough with a willow stick 25 to 30 centimeters long and half an inch in diameter, with no knots that can cut the skin" (which considered for its part to avoid cutting the skin). If the child is older, they can be used pipe pipes to apply the corrective that the child deserves.

If instead, what is sought is to verify the recklessness of a child, the reverend recommends leaving weapons loaded around the house and waiting to see the reaction of the children.

Before such advice, that more than a manual for raising children seems the "Manual of the perfect torturer", there are several cases of violence in the United States and three deaths.

Without going any further, on September 30 a lawsuit was initiated against a couple, the Williams, accused of murdering their 11-year-old daughter. The couple He acknowledged that she was a follower of the Reverend Pearl's manual and that is why they acted before the “misconduct”. Apparently they killed her with a pipe.

And I ask myself, again, because lately I ask myself too often: Are we crazy or what?

That a crazy reverend, who comes to explain that when his son bit the nursing mother, he stretched his hair, write a book apologizing the most violent abuse can happen, because look, occasionally they slip into the books stores They say real barbarities.

That almost a million people buy it, because it can also happen, because you can think that a book written by a reverend who looks like Santa Claus may be fine.

However, that you read it and you end up thinking that what this man says, that he seems to be totally upset, is logical, he has no forgiveness. Y if you carry it out, it is for you to be locked up, I don't know if in jail or in a psychiatric (which is where they should have Reverend Pearl, I'm afraid).
