The Casita Museo del Ratón Pérez in Madrid has expanded its facilities

Maybe the Casita Museo de Ratón Pérez on Arenal street in Madrid, it will begin as a tiny museum as the character that inspired it, but since 2008 it has received families, school groups and visitors in general, who wanted to discover the magic and illusion housed within its walls.

Now they have expanded their facilities, and to celebrate it, Don José Mª Álvarez del Manzano officially visited this institution yesterday that reminds us of that fictional character recreated by the story “Ratón Pérez” that little Alfonso XIII received when he lost the first tooth.

And it was Mr. José Mª Álvarez himself who (being mayor of Madrid) institutionalized the residence of such an endearing character, discovering a commemorative plaque (the first and only dedicated to a fictional character) on the facade of the building in which the Father Luis Coloma, at the end of the 19th century, in his work "Ratón Pérez", located his family home. Mr. José Mª Álvarez del Manzano during his visit to the Casita Museo de Ratón Pérez That sympathetic and appreciated recognition took place years later, and thanks to a private initiative, the Casita Museo de Ratón Pérez, a unique and different space where magic coexist and culture, from the data provided by Coloma. By opening its doors, this entity was allowed so that children and adults could know the home of this Madrid loved by all, generating the illusion of those who visit it.

Now they have more information and documentation about the protagonists of the story, their life and hobbies, the tradition of collecting baby teeth and other data of remarkable interest. That is why the museum has expanded its facilities with the aim of making them known, allowing the visitor to offer greater knowledge about Pérez, his origins, his family, as well as artists and writers who have been able to contact him.

What will you find in this Casita Museum?
