I have seen nursing rooms that you could not believe

If you are waiting for a baby and you still do not know the nursing rooms, keep in mind that under that denomination very different types of rooms are hidden. Throughout my early years as a mother I have seen nursing rooms that you could not believe.

Others, those who have already frequented these places, know what I am talking about, and you can probably add other types of breastfeeding rooms that hardly deserve that name. I invite you all to walk through these unimaginable places that are supposed to welcome a mother and her baby so that he can feed peacefully.

I have seen breastfeeding rooms so narrow and small that in order to move on to the last chair (yes, folding chair) that the rest of the mothers had aligned to the bottom, they had to move their legs apart. Rooms in which you do not turn around to leave because you think it is better to continue to your site and wait for it to empty a bit so as not to disturb again.

Nursing rooms where you had to leave out the cart because it was impossible for it to fit there. Rooms that you had to leave precisely because you go alone with your baby and there are no times to leave a stroller unattended.

I've seen breastfeeding rooms where the smell of baby poop was unbearable. Cry to heaven ask breastfeeding rooms independent of changing rooms, because surely nobody likes to eat (or feed) in the bathroom.

No one would go to give the child fruit, porridge or snack in the common bathroom of a mall, right? The bathrooms for what they are, with changing tables included, and the nursing rooms for what they are. In any case, it would be good if in a separate room and communicated to the nursing room, there was a changing table for the little ones, with suitable diaper containers.

And since we ask and as the nursing rooms are supposed to be comfortable, they are equipped with adequate seats, please. That to stand or on a wooden bench I already stay out of the room.

It is true that throughout the months you learn to breastfeed in almost any position, and you will not mind doing it standing or on a bench, but at the beginning you need some comfort and tranquility to do it, so we can eliminate folding chairs and narrow cubicles I also don't ask for a massage chair or a bed, but please, a comfortable seat.

further I've seen ghost lactation rooms, of those locked with an intercom to which no one answers. That, assuming you have an intercom, but what if not? Well, they invite us to go out to look for a security guard, who may be near or far away, which you can take to find or simply not find while the baby, perhaps, does not stop crying.

I've also seen breastfeeding rooms shared with changing tables but with screens that relegated you to a corner with the purpose of covering your eyes (or hiding) from the rest of the mothers who were going to change their children there. Something more typical of an improvised corner than of a nursing room in a shopping center in a capital.

Because of improvised corners I could also talk to you: dark, uncomfortable, far away ... in some corner of the restaurant. In the end you decide not to ask and put yourself where it suits you best, trying not to disturb the waiters or other customers. I mean not to interfere with your step, because what bothers you to see you breastfeeding is your business.

I hope that the new shopping centers that such friends of the children pretend to be take into account that not any space or in any condition a nursing room can be enabled. And that these rooms, which sometimes become so unattractive, are not mandatory.

Nursing rooms should be available in adequate conditions in all public spaces for mothers who want or need privacy and tranquility. But they are not obligatory and in those same places it should not be strange or of course forbid to breastfeed in public.

Anyway, as you see not all nursing rooms deserve that nameDo not be astonished if you know these incredible places throughout the first months or years of the baby. But, for incredible places, those others where you have also breastfed the baby, right? We will return to them, and also to what would be my ideal nursing room.
