This year the seed of solidarity will collaborate with the Red Cross to distribute lots of social assistance

My children's school participates every year in the school campaign for five years 'One euro, llavor de solidaritat' (one euro, seed of solidarity), promoted by Escola Valenciana. The initiative consists of the collection of money that the students contribute and is destined to a different project each course.

So far, it has collaborated in the collection of funds for the construction of a rural school in Guatemala, the purchase of books for Saharawi students, providing medical assistance to the people of Haiti, and the reconstruction of schools in Gaza.

Educational centers of the Valencian Community collaborate, and its accession is simple: it is about raising one euro per student. Normally at the local level, this action is part of the celebration of World Peace Day (January 30). We are in a context of social and economic crisis that is making visible the precariousness of many families. We have already seen on previous occasions that children are the poorest group in our country, and they are also the ones that most need protection.

That is why the money obtained this year will be directed to one of the Red Cross projects that aims to distribute lots containing products to cover part of the basic needs of people in vulnerable situations. The contribution consists of food, hygiene and school supplies.

If you live in Alicante, Castellón or Valencia, you may soon receive a note informing the campaign and asking for your participation. There will be few schools that also organize other parallel acts for educational and awareness purposes.
