Family holidays in Peñíscola: all the charms you are looking for, and fun to go with children

How? That you have not yet decided the fate of Holy Week ?, ah, that you are looking at it! ... well, you still have a few days ahead, besides wanting is power (to tell me that I decided last summer that we were going to Sardinia three weeks before the departure date). Now seriously: I did that, but I didn't leave any loose ends, yes, you better take your time to plan vacations, and that you have at hand a very complete list of issues to solve.

And I do not mean the things to put in the suitcase, but to: accommodation (contrasting opinions of other travelers), meals, places to visit, check the weather, have located medical offices, hospitals and pharmacies, see if there are playgrounds near the hotel, etc… Because when we go with children we must take more precautions, and have a plan B in case it rains and it is not possible to walk along the beach.

Well, I have already entered the subject and I have given you the first clue: The place I would like to talk to you about is PeñíscolaI have visited it a few times and the impression it has given me is the same always. It is a cozy and quiet place (although it is a tourist destination), which combines tradition and modernity, and above all, it has many attractions for families traveling with children. There is a wide range of comfortable accommodations, and diversity of shops with typical products or craftsmen; There is also a lot of life in the old town and a lot of serenity on the beaches (even when there are enough people, it is a curious sensation).

Peñíscola is a privileged population in the Valencian Community, not only chairs the Costa de Azahar (Castellón) from the fortress castle where Pope Benedict XIII lived (and usually hosts very interesting exhibitions); but also gives the charm of its fine sands that were once flooded when there was temporary.

But it is that in addition - and for me this is the best - from the north of the municipality we already enter the Serra d'Irta (only virgin spot on many kilometers of the Mediterranean coast), which in addition to abruptly breaking the balance town / beaches, It is full of trails to discover natural treasures.

If you have been there, you may agree with my assessment, if not, you may be interested in getting to know Peñíscola (even if it is only because of the ascent to the Castle, and for entering inside it, the children love it!). For more information you can consult on the Tourism website, in the City Council; and with regard to accommodation, how about starting with one of these platforms to find and book: Booking, Trivago, ...? More information can still be given by travelers from MiNube, or from Tripadvisor. And if you dare to discover the Serra d'Irta, this is the site of the Interpretation Center.

And do not forget, Peñíscola en Familia tells us that the Spanish Federation of Large Families has delivered the Family Tourism Stamp to Andrés Martínez (the mayor of the city), for being the recommended municipality and adapted to the family audience, thanks to the “equipment, services and leisure offer”. It is also the first Spanish population to obtain it.
